One Hope NPO is the formalization of the community work that has been done by founders Lee & Bronwen Anderson since 2013.

One Hope aims to bring real Hope to those who often feel invisible to society in a practical way on the journey to restoration.

Where it all began

I have lived in Pinetown for most of my life, and went about my business, as we all do, oblivious to the brokenness that surrounded me. I was a "good" person, a God-fearing Christian, an elder in the local church, and lead my family the best way I knew how.

But all of that changed one Monday night on my way back from a prayer meeting at our local church in 2013. I suppose it was something of a Damascus road experience, and that is the best way I can describe it. God suddenly opened my eyes, and for the first time I looked and saw the many homeless people sleeping on the streets of our city.

I remember feeling so broken-hearted, but knew that there was an action that was required. With tears streaming down my face, I made my way down to Durban to a 24-hour food place, where I purchased 10 meals. As I made my way back to Pinetown, I prayed that the guys I had seen earlier were still there. 

I got back to Pinetown, distributed the 10 meals and did this again for the following 3-days. My family needed no convincing, and very soon we were feeding 50-70 meals twice a week.
